As we enter the ‘With COVID-19’ era, the expansion of 'untact culture' and the digitalisation of society as a whole have accelerated, leading to significant developments in online museums within the field of visual arts. In response to this trend, the SOMA Museum of Art has been curating the virtual exhibition project ‘MOVE (Museum of Virtual Exhibition) SOMA’ since 2020 to expand exhibition culture.
MOVE SOMA 3: Neverland offers a unique opportunity to virtually explore sculptures from Seoul’s Olympic Sculpture Park, one of the world’s five major sculpture parks. Among these, nine iconic pieces by renowned global artists such as Moon Shin, César Baldaccini, María Subirachs, Louise Bourgeois, Lee Ufan, George Rickey, Mauro Staccioli, Dennis Oppenheim, and Rafael Soto are showcased in both virtual and outdoor settings.
The indoor exhibition allows visitors to engage with large-scale works in a 360-degree virtual space, offering a more immersive experience. Meanwhile, the outdoor sculpture park provides an opportunity to enjoy these masterpieces alongside the changing beauty of the Olympic Park’s landscapes throughout the seasons.
This exhibition breaks down the digital and physical space boundaries, allowing visitors to reflect on the evolving relationship between space, time, and artistic experience. Through this initiative, the SOMA Museum of Art presents a new approach to experiencing art in an increasingly digital world, expanding the limits of traditional exhibition formats and creating a dynamic platform for cultural exchange.
